About TaxReck: the opposite of reckless.
Reckless, with the less taken away, leaves reck.
Take the less out of reckless and what is left is our name.
Reck is an old word that has all but dropped out of English, but it still hides inside a common one. To be reckless is to not care what happens. Reck is what remains when you take that away: minding the deadline, opening the letter from HMRC before it turns into a penalty, asking the awkward question before the return goes in.
We reck, so you do not have to.

TaxReck is a fixed fee accountancy practice for sole traders, landlords, start ups and the directors of small limited companies, based in Chadwell Heath on the edge of east London and working with clients across the UK. The people too small to interest a large firm and too busy to do the paperwork themselves are not our smallest work. They are the whole job.
A note from the founder.
I started TaxReck because small businesses deserve better than being somebody’s side account.
In nine years of UK practice I watched the same thing happen again and again. The sole traders, landlords and small companies were the files nobody wanted: opened in January, closed again by February, worked on by whoever happened to be free that week. They were never bad clients. They simply were not the clients those firms were built for.
TaxReck is built for them. Every fee is fixed and agreed in writing before anything starts, so nobody ever hesitates to pick up the phone. Every set of accounts and every return is checked and signed off by me before it reaches you, and nothing goes to HMRC or Companies House until you have seen the figures and said yes.
The name is the promise. To reck is to care, to pay heed. We do the caring about deadlines, penalties and paperwork, so that you can get on with the work that pays for all of it.

A team, each with a speciality.
You will always have one person to call, and nothing leaves the practice without the founder’s sign off. Behind that, each part of the work sits with someone who specialises in it.

The path every file takes
- Your records arrive by upload, email, a connected bank feed or a box of receipts.
- Prepared by the person who owns that part of your work.
- Queries gathered into one file and talked through with you, never guessed.
- Checked and signed off by the founder, line by line.
- Your yes, then filed, usually two months before the deadline.
Promises you can hold us to.
- 30 minAn email answered by a person during working hours, not an auto response.
- Same dayA call returned if we are with another client when you ring.
- 2–3 daysDraft accounts or a return ready for you, once we have your records.
- 1 weekFiled after your yes, and usually much sooner.
- 2 monthsHow far ahead of the deadline we aim to file.
Promises are easy to make on a website. These are the ones we measure ourselves against, month after month, and you are welcome to hold us to every one of them.
