Your personal return, with the pages your income needs. Self assessment in full.
Self assessment, corporation tax and VAT, prepared by a qualified accountant and never filed without your yes.

TaxReck prepares and files tax returns for sole traders, landlords, partnerships and small limited companies across the UK: self assessment, corporation tax, VAT and capital gains. Every return is checked by a qualified accountant, the bill is explained months before it is due, and nothing reaches HMRC until you have said yes.

One tax return a year for your trade, any other income and the National Insurance that comes with self employment.

Accounts at Companies House, a corporation tax return at HMRC, and usually your own return as a director. The value is in how salary, dividends and pension are set for the year.

Rental profit goes on the property pages of your return. Mortgage interest is a 20% tax reducer, not an expense, and tax on a sold home is due within 60 days.

Once your self assessment bill is £1,000 or more and less than 80% of your tax was collected at source, HMRC asks for next year's tax in advance: half on 31 January, half on 31 July, each based on this year's bill. The first year is the painful one because you pay this year's balance and half of next year's on the same day. We tell you the figure months ahead, and reduce the payments if we know your profit is falling.
It depends on profit, on how much you need to draw, and on how much admin you will tolerate. With dividend rates up again this year the tax gap has narrowed for modest profits, while a company still wins on liability protection and on leaving profit in the business. We run both sets of numbers on your figures before you decide, at no cost.
Not as an expense. Since April 2020 finance costs on residential lets give a tax reducer of 20% of the interest instead. For a basic rate taxpayer that is roughly the same result; for a higher rate taxpayer it is not, and it can push you into a higher band because rent is taxed before the interest is taken off. From April 2027 rental profit will also have its own rates of 22%, 42% and 47%.
Nine months and one day after your accounting year end, which is earlier than the return itself, due at twelve months. A 31 March year end means tax paid by 1 January and the CT600 filed by 31 March the following year. We aim to have both done inside three months of the year end so the tax figure is known early.
A self assessment return one day late is £100. After three months it is £10 a day for up to 90 days, a further £900, and after six and twelve months further penalties of 5% of the tax or £300, whichever is more. Interest runs on unpaid tax from the due date. All of this is fixable, and we appeal where there is a reasonable excuse. The sooner it starts, the smaller it stays.
Yes if you were self employed with turnover over £1,000, a landlord with rental profit over £2,500 or rent over £10,000 (tell HMRC if rent is over £1,000), anyone with dividends or other untaxed income to declare, or if HMRC has sent you a notice to file. If you are not sure, use the quick check below or ask us.
